And we wonder why ecumenical reconciliation is so slow...

Catholics offer indulgences.

You would think they would have learnt their lessons once already.

Thought o' the day: "If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1.9

Because they can't do it themselves...

France has threatened to tell on Iran to the U.N. if they don't stop trying to acquire nuclear weaponry.

Good Grief.

It only took the Germans six weeks to force the French Army (the largest standing army ever assembled on Earth) to surrender in 1940. I'm pretty sure the Iranians aren't scared.

If the French really wanted to threaten Iran they should have threatened to send in the US, since we usually get to clean up after the French and their military messes.

Thought o' the day: The Franco-Prussian War, France lost. Germany first plays the role of drunk Frat boy to France's ugly girl home alone on a Saturday night.

Greetings!

Here's a "Happy Thanksgiving" for everyone out there! May your day be happy and turkey-filled.

I'll be travelling tomorrow for Thanksgiving, but not to Ohio. I'm going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, and I'm pretty excited (even though I have to get up really early).

Then it's back here to make a dish of my famous homeade Sausage Dressing and dinner with Andrew, Jessica, and Jennifer (Jessica's sister). It should be a great time and good food!

Then I'm having a "porty" (party + Port wine = "porty") tomorrow evening to capp off a busy day. We'll gather at 9.30p or so, and enjoy an evening digestif somewhere in Alex.

In honor of our National Day of Thanksgiving...

WE GATHER TOGETHER - Adrianus Valerius, Arranged & translated from Dutch to Latin by Eduard Kremser, Translated from German to English by Theodore Baker, 1894.

We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing;
He chastens and hastens His will to make known.
The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing.
Sing praises to His Name; He forgets not His own.

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,
Ordaining, maintaining His kingdom divine;
So from the beginning the fight we were winning;
Thou, Lord, were at our side, all glory be Thine!

We all do extol Thee, Thou Leader triumphant,
And pray that Thou still our Defender will be.
Let Thy congregation escape tribulation;
Thy Name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!

Thought o' the day: Give thanks, with a grateful heart...

The world rages around us...

According to CNN "Jordan's King Abdullah II today vowed to back a crackdown on al Qaeda after four members of the terror group attacked three Amman hotels. The king expressed particular scorn for the husband and wife team responsible for bombing a wedding at one of the hotels. 'To take your wife or your spouse with you into that wedding and blow yourself up -- these people are insane.'"

They aren't playin' with a full deck of cards, that's for sure.

Pray for peace.
