Happy Sunday!

Went to church this morning (Nassau Presbyterian) and it was really great. The choir performed their Christmas Cantata and it was lovely, despite the fact that I couldn't understand what they were singing since it was in Latin. The sermon was also excellent today. Sometimes Dr. D. runs hot or cold and you really never know what you're going to get. Anyhow today it was good!

Five days until Ohio, and my schedule is rapidly filling, so if you want to see me I would advise letting me know asap (via e-mail preferably). I'll be home Dec. 17 to Jan. 4. There is much work to be done and I have the nagging feeling that I will be very busy while I am home.

This week is going to be busy as well, two papers and several books to read, plus some last minute shopping and packing to get ready for the plane ride. And classes and campus activities. Jeez, I'll need a break just from this last week of classes.

I would just like to say that amazon.com is quite possibly the best site ever. I don't know what I did or how I shopped for Christmas gifts (and anything else for that matter) before the advent of on-line shopping.

I finally thought of a good Christmas gift for the grandparents. I bought a disposable camera today and I'm going to take pictures of campus and then put them in a small album with descriptions of what is happening in the pictures and then compile the whole thing so that they can see what life is like here in Princeton. So that means I'm going to have to find time to take pictures sometime this week too. I'm too busy.

Grace and Peace y'all!

Thought o' the day: O come, Thou Dayspring, come and cheer Our spirits by Thine advent here.

Last evening the annual Christmas festivities rocked campus. We started out with a formal dinner at 5.30 replete with fancy dress clothes and really good (if a bit cold) food. Following dinner 4th Brown hosted a cocktail hour that lasted 'til almost nine, which was a lot of fun, and a lot (and by a lot I mean a whole crap-load) of alcohol. Each room had a different drink and you could go around and sample all you wanted. I had a "George Bailey's" from Shannon's room, and it was quite tasty, Bailey's Irish Cream, Creme-de-Menthe, and Chocolate milk with whip-cream on top, yum! Cathy had mulled wine, which I thought I would enjoy as I have before, and while it was good I think I was just too hot to enjoy a hot drink (it was very warm up on the fourth floor). Then we all headed back to the refectory where there was a Christmas dance until mid-night. I was persuaded to dance a little bit, but as the dj didn't play anything to which I could Charleston or Lindy-hop I was kind of stuck. The dance confirmed my theory that white people cannot and should not be allowed to dance, (at least without having lots to drink first) that is unless they have signed a waiver acknowledging that they will probably look like asses. A good time was had by all, and I managed to leave by about 10.30 so that I could get a good night's sleep, which I did. Today there is much to be done, namely a ten-page paper for Pastor as Person!

Grace and Peace y'all!

Thought o' the day: I'll say it again, I'm glad seminary is like Las Vegas, what happens here stays here.

Greetings!

8 days left until OHIO!!!

In the meantime there is much work to be done...

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the PC(USA) was here today. He preached in chapel and it was pretty good, althought I'm 90% sure he's a commie.

Dr. Torrance introduced by saying that when he (Dr. Torrance) was elected moderator of the Church of Scotland in 2003 he was, at 54, the youngest moderator in 200 years, and that Rick Ufford-Chase, at 40, had him beat here in the US church. It was amusing. There are some people who are saying he in the youngest moderator in the history of the Presbyterian Church in all its forms, but I don't think he is. If I remember correctly James Henley Thornwell was moderator in 1847 or 48 and was only in his early-mid thirties at the time. I may be wrong on this, but I don't think so.

Peace out y'all!

Thought o' the day: Mail... it's a beautiful thing!

I had a really long post typed up the yesterday and as I went to post it, it disappeared! Nerts.

Anyhow, Happy December! I'm going home in 16 days!

Tom Brokaw retires tonight, I hope everyone watches.

Getting ready to schedule for classes next semester, looks like fun!

That's all for now.

Grace & Peace y'all!
